Three North China leopards, an adult female and two sub-adults, were spotted in Zhouzhi National Nature Reserve, northwest China's Shaanxi Province.

They are a subspecies of the Amur leopard that is peculiar to China. The reserve's staff found the footage after they recently collected data from the infrared cameras. Just 10 days after their first appearance on May 16, they were spotted again.

The spotted animal can grow as long as 2 meters and weigh around 70 kilograms. Its existence indicates that the surrounding forest has a healthy ecological system and the big cat can find enough food. At present, traces of the animal can be found in mountainous forests in north and northwest China.

There are about 10 leopards in the reserve, according to a survey. The North China leopard is classified as a first-class national protected animal.
