A gala celebrating China's 12th National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities was held at the Tianya Haijiao Park in Sanya, south China's Hainan Province, showcaseing the country's rich cultural diversity and unity. CGTN Sports Scene's Mike Fox experienced the event first hand with Hainan TV host Liao Zhu.
Five zones of performance and exhibition were set at the location with themes including singing, dancing, and intangible cultural heritage among other features of ethnic groups. Moreover, there were two interactive areas welcoming visitors from all over the country.
A long line of exhibitions of nearly 40 themes of various ethnic groups stood along the coastline of Sanya as for tourists and athletes for the Games to learn more about and enjoy the unique characteristics of both Hainan and other parts of China in a fashionable way.
The Games paused for half a day on Tuesday for recreation time at the gala. Visitors exchanged gifts with each other before singing and dancing together.
