Heavy snow blanketed parts of northeastern China on Tuesday, prompting the closure of 15 highways in Jilin Province. Restrictions were also imposed on oversized cargo vehicles and trucks that transport hazardous chemicals. In the neighboring Heilongjiang Province, severe rain and snow accompanied by strong winds and a temperature drop forced the local meteorological bureau to issue a red alert for blizzards and activate a Level III emergency response. The maximum snowfall was recorded at 16.2 millimeters in Zhaozhou County. The heavy snowfall is expected to persist until November 27, with some areas experiencing blizzards.
