Chen Xianyue, a national-level inheritor of the Dong embroidery tradition, describes embroidery as the soul of Dong culture. She has a particular fascination with "scroll-trimmed embroidery," a technique that creates bold, vibrant designs with a unique three-dimensional effect. Growing up in a community where most of the women embroidered, she stood out by turning her love for the craft into a thriving business.
