Chinese snowboarder Su Yiming will participate in the Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) Snowboard and Freeski Big Air World Cup that will begin on Friday at Shougang Park in Beijing.
Back in February 2022, Su won the snowboarding big air gold medal at the Beijing Winter Olympic Games at Shougang Park. He is now about to return to the location for new competitions and wants to show a better version of himself in front of his home fans.
"I will try my best to challenge those moves with highest difficulty at Shougang Park, because the Big Air venue here is one of the best in the world, which allows me to display all of my skills," Su said at a press conference on Thursday. "I don't feel any pressure, because most of the snowboarders are friends, and we always inspire each other to try better moves. If one of them completes great moves at Shougang Park, I will be really happy for him, and push myself to practice harder. Of course I want to win the title in Beijing, but I also hope everybody can finish this event safely, and successfully."
Su aims to push the limits with some new tricks on home snow at the tournament that will end on Sunday. The World Cup features over 170 elite athletes from more than 20 countries and regions around the world and some of the them will be striving for their tickets for the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics.
