WTO chief Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was reappointed for a second four-year term, effective September 1, 2025, at a special meeting on Friday.
"WTO members today agreed to give incumbent Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala a second term as Director-General of the WTO," the World Trade Organization said in a statement.
Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is the seventh director-general of the WTO. She took office on March 1, 2021, becoming the first woman and the first African in the position. Her current term of office will expire on August 31, 2025.
