With Donald Trump set to return as U.S. president, the future of China-U.S. trade relations has aroused heated discussion. CGTN talked to Nabil S. Mikhail, a former adjunct faculty member at George Washington University, to discuss the challenges and opportunities ahead for bilateral trade relations.

Mikhail was born in Egypt and has been living in the United States since 1986. He told CGTN Stringer that perpetuating strife will be adversarial for the U.S. and also put China at a disadvantage, so competition should be contained. "There is common concern that could bind the two nations together, and they can work together toward the welfare of humanity," he added.
