The Guangzhou Loong Lions walked over the Jilin Northeast Tigers 140-117 in Guangzhou, south China's Guangdong Province, on Saturday, securing their second straight win.
The home crowd witnessed a dominant performance by their biggest offseason signing Guo Ailun who shot 6-for-6 from downtown for a season-high 32 points in addition to five rebounds and seven assists. It has been 991 days since he reached 30 points in the Chinese Basketball Association regular season.
Guo's hands began to boil from the beginning of the game as he shot 4-for-5 from the field to get 11 points in eight minutes in the first quarter during which Guangzhou outscored Jilin 38-22.
After a relatively quiet second quarter, Guo exploded again in the third by knocking down all five of his shots to score 14 points. His offensive performance shut down the opponents' rally led by Dominique Jones and put the home team on a 25-point lead, 108-83, after three quarters. The game lost most of its suspense at that moment.
Guo included, Guangzhou saw eight of their players reach double-digit points. The team did an excellent job of moving the ball which could be displayed in their 37 assists.
In the other game on the night, the Shandong Kylins beat the Fujian Sturgeons 111-92 at home in Jinan, east China's Shandong Province, giving the opponents their second consecutive loss.
Shandong's American pair of Marquese Chriss and Dallas Moore combined to get 51 points and nine steals for the home team. Gao Shiyan contributed 10 assists. Fujian's Joseph Young scored court-high 42 points, but his efforts failed to reverse the situation for his side.
