A China Foreign Ministry spokesperson reaffirmed that Huangyan Dao has always been part of China's territory.
In response to recent actions taken by the Philippines, including sending Coast Guard and official vessels to the area in an attempt to intrude into China's territorial waters, spokesperson Lin Jian said that China took necessary steps to protect its territorial sovereignty and maritime rights in accordance with the law.
"The measures taken are justified, lawful, professional, and restrained," Lin said.
Lin also called on the Philippines to stop its infringement activities and provocations at once, warning against any challenges to China's firm resolve to defend its lawful rights and interests.
