A China Coast Guard (CCG) spokesperson stated Monday that the CCG took necessary measures against Philippine vessels illegally gathering near Houteng Jiao in China's Nansha Islands and urged the Philippines to stop its provocations. Footage released Wednesday by Yuyuantantian, a China Media Group affiliate, showed fishing boats and reporters staging photos, revealing they were not engaged in fishing. Experts say that the fishing boats in question are not suitable for fishing in deep-sea waters. In addition, a Philippine coast guard vessel carrying reporters was also present at the scene to stage photos of the fishing boats for publicity.
