In Beijing, the frigid winter is making its appearance, heralding the most suitable season for indulging in tanghulu, or candied haws. To make it more convenient for consumers to carry and eat, the traditional confectionery has been "upgraded" to a shorter version. The previously long candied haws have been cleverly crafted by merchants into shorter and more refined ones, facilitating easy consumption and portability for tourists.
