Host nation China eased past South Korea 8-4 in the second match of the second phase at the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Mixed Team World Cip in Chengdu on Thursday.
In the opening mixed doubles match, China's Lin Shidong and Kuai Man came from behind to beat Cho Dae-song and Shin Yu-bin 10-12, 11-7, 11-7 to take a 2-1 lead.
In the following women's singles contest, World No. 1 Sun Yingsha lost the first game 12-10 against Kim Na-yeong, but found her rhythm to fight back, claiming the next two frames 11-2, 11-7 to give China a 4-2 overall lead.
In the third men's singles showdown, World No. 1 Wang Chunqin edged past Oh Jun-sung in straight games 16-14, 11-8, 13-11 to take three points and extend China's edge to 7-2.
Wang then paired with Liang Jingkun to face An Jae-hyun and Cho Dae-seong in the men's double encounter, dropping the first two frames 11-8, 11-7. The Chinese duo regained their composure to put away the third game 11-7 and grab the decisive eighth point.
The win was China's second in the second phase, after beating Germany 8-1 on Wednesday, as well as the team's fifth straight win in the capital of Sichuan Province.
