Chinese Super League (CSL) team Zhejiang defeated Indonesia's Liga 1 side Persib 4-3 at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League Two at Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium in Bandung, Indonesia, on Thursday, ending their winless streak on the road at the tournament.
Despite the victory, Zhejiang still failed to advance to the knockout stage after Lion City Sailors beat Port 5-2 at home in the same group. The two teams went to the next round both with 10 points. Zhejiang came in third in Group F with nine points.
Zhejiang netted first and early in the game. Franko Andrijasevic scored in the 15th minute assisted by Sun Zhengao. Seven minutes later, two defenders of Persib miscommunicated and watched Jean Kouassi break into the box, elude the goalkeeper and shoot the ball into the goal for the visitors to extend their lead to 2-0.
Persib cut their deficit to one goal in the 31st minute. Marc Klok's shot was blocked by goalkeeper Zhao Bo, but Beckham Putra recovered the ball and netted. Zhejiang put themselves up by two goals again eight minutes later. Gu Bin found Andrijasevic in the box with a free kick from the left for him to add his second goal with a tap-in.
Zhejiang increased their lead to 4-1 in the 58th minute after Andrijasevic set up the second goal for Kouassi. Persib launched fierce attacks after that. David d Silva converted a header in the 70th minute. Tyronne scored a penalty kick during stoppage time.
