China is concerned about the potential impact of recent developments in Syria on Iraq, Geng Shuang, China's deputy permanent representative to the United Nations (UN), said at a UN Security Council briefing on Iraq on December 6. China supports the Iraqi central government and the Kurdistan regional government in continuing to strengthen dialogue and consultation on outstanding issues and in seeking sustainable solutions, he said. Other participants also commended the general safety, stability, and openness in Iraq at the meeting.
