Nauru's Parliament Speaker Marcus Stephen has reiterated Nauru's adherence to the one-China principle, emphasizing that resuming diplomatic ties with China was the right decision for the country. The parliament speaker led a delegation to visit China from November 30 to December 6 at the invitation of Zhao Leji, chairman of China's National People's Congress Standing Committee.
In an interview with CGTN, Stephen said it's important to strengthen the cooperation between legislative bodies between China and Nauru. He also highlighted the need for China's expertise to support Nauru's self-sustainability and jointly tackle the challenges of climate change. A veteran weightlifter, Stephen also expressed his vision of deepening sports collaboration and exchanges with China.
