In an exclusive conversation with CGTN's Zhang Meng at the 2024 Hainan Island International Film Festival, renowned Italian cinematographer Paolo Carnera shared his creative process, his admiration for global cinema, and the potential for deeper collaboration between China and Italy in film production.

Reflecting on his experience at the festival, Carnera highlighted the diversity of cultures represented and the mutual learning that enriches the filmmaking process.

"Chinese culture is vast and fascinating," says Carnera, who has worked alongside international talents, including the legendary Zhang Yimou. "It'd (be) a great opportunity for Chinese filmmakers to come to Italy, and for us to work together to create something truly unique."
