Large flocks of avocets, mallards and other migratory birds were recently observed either foraging or flying in unison over Poyang Lake in east China's Jiangxi Province, creating mesmerizing and undulating waves that captivated onlookers.

As cold weather sets in, an increasing number of migratory birds flying southward have arrived at Poyang Lake, China's largest freshwater lake.

To ensure the safety of these birds during their migration and wintering, local authorities have introduced a range of protective measures, including ground patrols, drone surveillance and the implementation of a comprehensive bird protection monitoring system.
