Frozen winter has come to the Kunming Lake at the Summer Palace in Beijing. The ice was sitting in patches on the water with a blue-and-orange mixture. The golden sunset brightened up the arches of the Seventeen Arch Bridge, attracting local residents to enjoy the view and take photographs.
The Summer Palace today is a popular site for winter sports and entertainment in Beijing, but back in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), it was an imperial complex with a vast ensemble of lakes, gardens and palaces.
This is a picture series of CGTN's special "People's City, Better Future," taking you a closer look at residents in Beijing, showing their daily lives and joy.
