Key meeting aims to keep market expectations stable: Experts

China's annual Central Economic Work Conference is expected to be held in Beijing soon. The conference will set the country's economic policies and targets for the following year. CGTN's Wang Mengjie spoke with experts to find out what the key focus areas are for 2025.

Ma Liang, professor of the School of Government at Peking University, said to achieve a dual circulation of domestic and international markets, with domestic consumption as the main focus, how to boost consumption is crucial. In this, stabilizing expectations is particularly important, and only when the government takes responsibility in areas such as childbirth, education and healthcare will people be willing to consume, he stressed.

Li Yong, senior fellow from China Association of International Trade, said industrial policies and measures on infrastructure and real estate will be stressed during the meeting. Another topic for discussion might include sustainability of future economic development. "I believe it will cover various aspects of the economy, and set a tone for the 15th Five Year Plan," he added.
