CGTN Poll: 92.4% global respondents optimistic about China's economic outlook

The main economic and social development goals for the year are set to be successfully achieved. The message released at China's most important annual economic conference serves as a "shot in the arm" for the struggling global economy. An online poll conducted by CGTN shows that 92.4 percent of respondents are confident about China's economic outlook, looking forward to China continuing to play a key role as an engine of global economic growth and bringing more certainty to the world economy.

As the world's second-largest economy, China's economic performance draws significant attention. As one CGTN viewer put it, "Any growth in China means continued and diversified goods, with people around the world closely watching China's economy, just as they would watch the development of supermarkets that are closely tied to daily life."

The economy grew by 4.8 percent in the first three quarters of the year, with a continued increase in the number of newly established foreign-invested enterprises, a significant rebound in consumption growth and robust growth in goods trade. A series of recently released data has conveyed a warming trend in China's economic outlook. Notably, the expansionary policies introduced in the third quarter of this year can be called the "most significant economic adjustment measures in China in recent years," leading to a clear economic recovery.

In the survey, 90.7 percent of respondents strongly affirmed the potential and resilience of China's economy, believing that the long-term positive trend of China's economy remains unchanged. Additionally, some respondents noted China's policies aimed at boosting consumption and improving investment efficiency. A total of 88.2 percent of respondents believed that consumer policies, such as the trade-in programs for old products, reflect China's efforts to stimulate domestic consumption while actively improving the standard of living for its people – an approach that other countries could learn from.

Against the backdrop of slowing global economic growth, China's economic growth has remained among the top of major economies. In this regard, 89.4 percent of respondents believe this is enough to prove that the global economic recovery cannot succeed without the steady development of China's economy, while 87.2 percent are eager to benefit from China's high-level opening-up and share in its development opportunities.

This conference reiterated the need to expand high-level opening-up, increasing both autonomous and unilateral openings. Since the beginning of this year, China is continuously expanding the number of countries with visa-free entry, providing greater convenience for international exchanges and personnel mobility, while also promoting deeper cooperation between China and other countries, creating new opportunities for international trade. A total of 93.2 percent of respondents expressed their approval, believing this shows China's determination to maintain high-level opening-up. As one CGTN viewer put it, "Not needing a visa for short-term business trips to China is very helpful for international investors with business in China."

Against the backdrop of rising trade protectionism, China has actively promoted inclusive economic globalization, ensuring that development benefits are fairly shared among all countries. Starting this month, China has granted zero-tariff treatment on all products from the least developed countries with which it has diplomatic relations. In the survey, 91.9 percent of respondents praised China's practical actions in advancing South-South cooperation, believing that this initiative has made an important contribution to the shared development of Global South countries and highlighted China's efforts as a responsible major power and its determination to strengthen international cooperation.
