During China's Ming Dynasty, tea culture flourished, reaching new heights of elegance and refinement. The preparation of tea underwent simplification compared to the more elaborate brewing methods of the Tang and Song dynasties. The process shifted to emphasize ease and the pure flavor of the tea itself. Water was boiled in a kettle, loose leaf tea was steeped in clay teapots and the aroma was best appreciated in small teacups designed to concentrate the fragrance.

This method highlighted the natural essence of the tea leaves. It remains a core part of Chinese tea culture to this day, showcasing the Ming Dynasty's lasting influence on how tea is enjoyed.
