The Macao Light Rail offers a transit service to Hengqin, a small island which is home to the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in south China. Opening to the public in December 2024, the 2.2-kilometer-long line has only two stops all the way – one at Lianhua Station in Macao and the other, Hengqin Station in neighboring Zhuhai City. Commuters hopping on a train at Lianhua will need only about two minutes to reach Hengqin. Passengers can easily walk to the departure hall of Hengqin Port after exiting Hengqin Station. With a train frequency of about six minutes, the Hengqin Line service provides convenient and efficient transportation options for passengers to enter and exit Hengqin Port, giving a big boost to Macao's integration into the "one-hour life circle" of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
