Germany's seven-time world champion Katharina Schmid continued her exceptional start of the 2024/25 FIS Ski Jumping World Cup season. The 28-year-old landed on top of the podium in the first day's women's normal hill individual on the Snow Ruyi hill in Zhangjiakou.

Each athlete got two jumps, with the top 30 from the first jump progressing to the second. Following two rounds of competition, the two-time Olympic silver medalist won the championship with a total score of 237.0 points. This was her third individual World Cup podium finish of the season following a first and second-place finish at the season opener in Lillehammer, Norway. As one of the most decorated skier in the history of ski jumping, Schmid now now has a total of 17 individual World Cup wins.
