Still reeling from the major earthquake that hit the country's capital of Port Vila on Tuesday, all supermarkets in Vanuatu are reportedly closed, with only a few Chinese-owned stores still selling water and biscuits. Water supply is gradually being restored, but electricity has been restored only in the city center. The local government is continuing efforts to rescue people trapped in debris.
At least 14 people have been killed and hundreds injured after the magnitude-7.3 earthquake struck the South Pacific Ocean country on Tuesday. Two Chinese nationals are among the dead, Chinese Ambassador to Vanuatu Li Minggang told China Media Group on Wednesday.
