Macao, with its high population density and limited land area, has long faced a challenge in housing its residents. Over the past 25 years, since Macao's return to China, the SAR government has, with support from the central authorities, implemented a public housing policy known as "homes for all in a contented society". On December 19, 2014, President Xi Jinping visited the Seac Pai Van estate, the largest public housing project in Macao. There he saw for himself how the SAR government's efforts to improve local residents' well-being were bearing fruit.
