Chinese President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, visited Hengqin on Thursday. Situated next to the Macao Special Administrative Region, Hengqin has witnessed rapid development over the past three years. Covering 106 square kilometers and located across a river from Macao, the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone on Hengqin Island in Zhuhai City, south China's Guangdong Province, was established in September 2021. Attracted by the business-friendly environment and improved living conditions, over 16,500 Macao residents have settled in Hengqin. CGTN's Liu Jiaxin has the latest.
