A magnitude-7.3 earthquake shook the South Pacific archipelago of Vanuatu on December 17, causing widespread damage. CGTN interviewed John Regenvanu, a government worker in Vanuatu, about the current situation. Regenvanu said the earthquake has caused at least 14 fatalities, including two Chinese citizens, and over 200 injuries. Earthquake rescue operations have been launched, and Vanuatu is also set to receive international assistance. Infrastructure damage has led to power outages and water contamination, and the government is restoring essential services and providing clean water to the affected population.
