President Xi Jinping highlights Macao's global role and cultural tourism appeal

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday emphasized Macao Special Administrative Region's (SAR) growing role in international cooperation.

"As the only region where Chinese and Portuguese are both official languages, Macao Special Administrative Region serves as a crucial platform for trade and economic collaboration between China and Portuguese-speaking countries. Its 'Historic Center of Macao,' a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has become a favorite destination for tourists worldwide," he said.

President Xi made the remarks at a gathering celebrating the 25th anniversary of Macao's return to China and the inauguration ceremony of the sixth-term government of the Macao SAR.
