China's three-time world champion Cai Xuetong claimed the silver medal in the women's final at the FIS Snowboard Halfpipe World Cup in Copper Mountain, Colorado, on Friday.

This event is the second of five stops in this season's World Cup series, after the opener took place in the Chinese city of Zhangjiakou two weeks ago.

The 31-year-old Cai ranked third with 85.50 points following the first run. She then climbed to second with 88.50 points after the second run.

Japan's 15-year-old Sara Shimizu topped the podium with 90.50 points, while compatriot Mitsuki Ono finished third. The USA's two-time Olympic champion Chloe Kim missed the podium after taking fourth place in her season debut.

In the men's competition, Japan's riders swept the podium, with 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics gold medalist Ayumu Hirano coming out on top with 97.00 points from his third run.
