Public relations experts and AI specialists convened at the 2024 Conference of China Public Relations for Development in Beijing on Saturday to exchange views on how public relations can enhance social governance.

Guo Weiming, president of China Public Relations Association (CPRA), emphasized that public relations, as both a management and communication discipline, plays a critical role in modernization efforts.

Maximizing the unique advantages and functions of public relations and integrating them into the modernization of social governance are of great significance for comprehensively implementing the new development concept, steadily advancing high-quality development, and promoting higher levels of openness, Guo said.

In light of new circumstances, the public relations industry should seize new opportunities and challenges of development, leveraging its role to build social consensus and foster a positive external environment, Guo added.

Jiang Tao, co-founder and senior vice president of the intelligent speech giant iFLYTEK, highlighted that the development of artificial intelligence (AI) presents both opportunities and challenges to public relations and social governance.

Noting the company's strength in AI, Jiang stressed the importance of leveraging the new generation of AI technology to enhance the efficiency, collaboration and transparency of social governance in order to continuously improve people's overall sense of well-being.

Wang Yiming, vice chairman of the China Center for International Economic Exchanges, pointed out that the rapid development of new models such as AI and "5G+ industrial Internet" have accelerated development, giving rise to new industries like intelligent and service-oriented manufacturing as transformative forces driving new quality productive forces.

Looking ahead, Wang urged cultivating digital economy industries, the strategic planning of future industries, and the integration of digital intelligent tech to modernize traditional industries and digital information infrastructure.

The conference, hosted by CPRA, also featured the release of outstanding public relations cases and demonstration projects for 2024.
