Both pairs finished the two rounds at 28-under, three shots clear of Team Duval, Team Singh, and Team Harrington, and were headed back to the 18th tee to decide the winner. Both teams had eagle putts on the playoff 18th, but neither Tiger nor Charlie could convert their attempts. Jason Langer also missed his putt, leaving it to Bernhard Langer to sink an 18-footer and seal the victory.
Earlier, Charlie Woods made his first hole-in-one on the 4th hole and joyously celebrated with his father. A few holes later, Padraig Harrington matched the feat with a hole-in-one on the 8th.
