The premiere episode highlights the Tsinghua Bamboo Slips, a collection of nearly 2,500 pieces from the mid-Warring States Period (475B.C.-221B.C.), unearthed from a tomb in the ancient Kingdom of Chu and now preserved by Tsinghua University. The second episode shifts its focus to over 100 wooden slips from the Han Dynasty (202B.C.-220A.D.), excavated from a tomb in Yinwan Village, Lianyungang City, east China's Jiangsu Province. These artifacts offer invaluable firsthand historical and cultural context for the period.

A standout innovation of this season is the introduction of the "script readers," a new role allowing hosts to engage directly with historical figures through imaginative dialogue. Far more than narrators, these readers act as companions to viewers as they embark on an immersive historical adventure.
