Painstakingly restored lacquer bed revives ancient Shu civilization

In 2000, a lacquer bed from the Warring States Period was unearthed from beneath Chengdu's Commercial Street. Buried in dismantled pieces within a coffin for more than 2,000 years, it took 17 years of meticulous restoration by cultural relics experts before it saw the light of day again. The exquisite returning dragon patterns, coiled serpent motifs and mysterious symbols are cultural imprints left by the ancient Shu people, revealing the grandeur and mystery of their civilization.
