An Azerbaijan Airlines passenger jet flying from Baku, Azerbaijan, to Grozny, Russia, crashed on December 25 near Aktau in western Kazakhstan. At least 28 survived, the latest statement of Kazakhstan's Ministry for Emergency Situations reads.
According to Azerbaijan Airlines, there were 67 people on board the crashed plane, including 62 passengers and 5 crew members. According to Russian news agencies, the plane had been rerouted due to heavy fog in Grozny, and the crash was reportedly caused by a collision with a flock of birds.
