The Shanxi Loongs defeated the Shenzhen Leopards 132-127 in overtime on Tuesday in Shenzhen, south China's Guangdong Province, for their 17th win of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) regular season.

Shanxi had to play on the road without American guard Brandon Goodwin, who was suspended. After the two sides found themselves tied at 16-16 in the first quarter, Shenzhen went a 13-2 run to lead 29-18, but the visitors soon responded an 8-0 rally, cutting the deficit to three points at 29-26.

Zhou Peng made all four of his attempts from downtown in the second quarter for Shenzhen, but the hosts couldn't stop Shanxi's comeback. The visitors knocked down five triples in the quarter. Hamidou Diallo, Zhang Ning and newly-signed American guard Walt Lemon Jr. all scored in double digits in the first half, after which Shanxi led 60-58.

The two teams continued to trade the lead in the third quarter. Zhou was injured and returned to the locker room with five minutes left. But his Shenzhen teammates outscored Shanxi 17-10 over the rest of the quarter to grab a 91-85 lead.

Zhou returned in the fourth quarter and drew a shooting foul outside the arc, before sinking two of his three free throw attempts. But Diallo stepped up to carry Shanxi's offense, joined by Zhang, who made two straight shots at the end of the quarter to tie the score at 119-119, sending the contest into overtime.

The competition remained close and physical in the extra five minutes. Diallo fouled out with Shanxi leading 130-125. Lu Pengyu made both of his free throws for Shenzhen to trim the deficit to three points, 130-127, but Zhou missed a game-tying triple with time winding down. The home team had to foul Jia Mingru to stop the clock, and Jia drained both free throws to seal the deal for Shanxi.

In the night's other game, the Xinjiang Flying Tigers beat the Beikong Royal Fighters 100-93 on the road to extend their winning streak to four in a row.
