The 2024 Chinese National Sports Directors Conference concluded in Beijing on Wednesday.
Attendants reviewed the accomplishments by Chinese athletes as well as the development of Chinese sports in the past year at the conference, made an overall analysis of the current situation and missions ahead for the country's sports development initiatives, and made arrangements for the priorities in the sports section for 2025.
Gao Zhidan, director of China's General Administration of Sport, pointed out that 2025 is the wrap-up year for China's 14th Five-Year Plan. Therefore, sports administrations at all levels will do their best to ensure a successful conclusion of the plan next year. He also raised Team China's preparation for the coming Olympic Games a priority in the coming year.
The first National Youth Games for Football, Basketball and Volleyball of the People's Republic of China was held in Changsha and Yueyang of central China's Hunan Province in late November. Elite young athletes from all over the country have participated in the competitions at the program.
"We are proud of and excited about the success Chinese athletes achieved in 2024," said Song Kai, president of the Chinese Football Association (CFA). "Meanwhile, we in the football section feel the pressure and motivated. We want to learn from the Chinese Olympic delegation with their excellent performance at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris to help ourselves improve and rejuvenate Chinese football."
