With the 2024 Olympic Games seeing an increasing amount of youth engagement, China's future generations are making a greater impact on the biggest stage in sport.

Chinese breaker Liu Qingyi, also known as B-Girl 671, made her Olympic debut at the 2024 Paris Games in a sport that also made its first appearance in the competition. The 19-year-old lost to Dominika Banevic of Lithuania in the semifinals, but then outperformed India Sardjoe of the Netherlands to seal a historic bronze medal for China.

Also, at Place de la Concorde, China's Deng Yawen put together a brilliant run in the women's BMX freestyle competition to clinch gold. After the victory, the 19-year-old said she was lucky to win.

China also made breakthroughs in speed climbing, as 22-year-old Wu Peng earned a silver medal in the men's event. The Hunan native clocked 4.77 seconds in the final, just 0.02 seconds behind Veddriq Leonardo, who won Indonesia's first gold in Paris.

In women's skateboarding, China's 15-year-old Cui Chenxi finished in fourth place, which refreshed China's best result in this event. With more and more younsters showing their strenghths on global stages, there's no doubt that we will be seeing some of these names again in the future.
