Liverpool thrashed West Ham United 5-0 at the London Stadium to stretch their lead in the Premier League to eight points over Nottingham Forest with Mohamed Salah once again in irrepressible form, while struggling Manchester City snapped their five-game winless streak with a 2-0 away victory over Leicester City.

The Reds took the lead when Luis Diaz beat Alphonse Areola after his attempted pass came back to him in the 30th minute. That's the eighth Premier League goal for the Colombian.

Salah showed great footwork to tee up Cody Gakpo in the 40th minute before the Egypt international making it 3-0 with his league best 17th goal of the season shortly before half-time to put the visitors in total control. It marked the 32-year-old's 20th in all competitions.

Trent Alexander-Arnold made it 4-0 with a deflected shot from distance in the 54th minute.

Diogo Jota completed the rout, courtesy of Salah's league best 13th assist following a surging run in the 84th minute. Arne Slot's Liverpool looked unstoppable in their quest for a record-equalling 20th English top-flight title, recording their 23rd win in 27 matches in all competitions this season.

Elsewhere, four time defending champions Manchester City visited Leicester City and Savinho gave them the lead in the 21st minute when he pounced on a rebound from Phil Foden's long shot for the Brazilian's first goal for City.

Erling Haaland, who had just two goals in eight league games in his worst stretch of his Premier League career doubled the lead in the 74th minute with a leaping header on cross from Savinho. Kevin de Bruyne found Savinho who added a nice assist to his goal while Haaland now has 14 in the league this season. The much needed 2-0 win marked manager Pep Guardiola's 500th game in charge of City, and was the club's first in five Premier League games. They climbed two spots to fifth place in the standings with 31 points.
