Timothy Burns, a professor at Baylor University in the U.S., embarked on a journey to central China's Henan Province. Henan, meaning "the south of the river," is named for its location south of China's Yellow River. Often considered as the cradle of Chinese civilization, Henan boasts a rich historical heritage that deeply impressed Burns during his visit. Serving as the political, economic and cultural center of the country for over 3,000 years, the province hosted more than 20 dynasties and is the birthplace of four great inventions of ancient China. These cultural signifiers have had profound significance in the history of Chinese civilization. During his trip, Burns also witnessed examples of China's modernization. Compared to motorcycles in the U.S., Burns was amazed by the quiet efficiency of Chinese electric bikes and people riding in their designated lanes. "Chinese are advancing rapidly in things like AI, and that will be needed for the new energy sources, so I congratulate China," he said.
