Editor's Note: With the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the China-Malaysia Year of Friendship, 2024 has provided another opportunity to deepen and solidify the China-Malaysia community with a shared future. Being at a critical stage of national development, how will both countries maintain the synergy of a healthy relation going forward? In this edition of Leaders Talk, CMG's Zou Yun sat down with Anwar Ibrahim, prime minister of Malaysia, during his working visit to China from November 4 to 7, 2024, where he attended the 7th China International Export Exhibition (CIIE) in Shanghai and had talks with the Chinese leadership to further enhance collaboration. Anwar says he considers Chinese President Xi Jinping more like a friend and hails China's global initiatives as "fundamental pillars" in promoting global security. With Malaysia assuming the rotating chairmanship of the ASEAN in 2025, Anwar is committed "to focus on political stability and effective collaboration between countries."
