China has assumed the presidency of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization since the Astana Summit last summer. A new logo and plans were unveiled earlier today. Sun Ye has more.

On the first working day of 2025, China unveiled the emblem for its rotating presidency of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Officials also outlined some of the arrangements for the SCO in the New Year.

China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said, in 2025, China will work to host a "friendly, united, and fruitful" SCO summit, along with over 40 institutional meetings.

China is also organizing major events such as the SCO Political Parties Forum, Poverty Reduction and Sustainable Development Forum, and the International Investment and Trade Expo.

The SCO's signature events including those focusing on art and film, will also be held in the year.

The slogan incorporated in the emblem reads, "upholding the Shanghai spirit, SCO on the move", and is the guiding principle for China's presidency.

The spokesperson said "Action" would be the presidency's defining term.

MAO NING Spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs "China has come up with the 'Shanghai Spirit' and has been an active champion in promoting it. We have made 'action' the keyword of our presidency's work, aiming to implement more practical measures and take a more proactive stance to continuously enhance the SCO's cooperation in political, security, economic, and cultural spheres, improve organizational mechanisms, build an SCO community with a shared future, and explore new spaces for win-win development."
