So far, Daniel's charm offensive has worked pretty well. He has secured a local band's agreement to perform, obtained a tailored dress coat for himself, and learned a couple of Uygur phrases to impress his guests—all without spending a cent. Next on the agenda is arranging essential refreshments for the guests, ensuring they enjoy their evening with some food. Given the cold, wintry weather, the food needs to be served hot. To address this, Daniel tries his hand at a barbecue at a restaurant owned by a friend of the homestay manager, Mr Sun. In return for the favor, Daniel decides to prepare a small surprise for him.
