The past week in the Chinese Basketball Association has undoubtedly been testing and demanding for the Beijing Ducks. During the demanding stretch, the capital outfit faced a grueling lineup, taking on the Xinjiang Flying Tigers, Liaoning Flying Leopards, and Zhejiang Golden Bulls, all of whom finished in the top three in the CBA standings last season.

In the first matchup against Xinjiang, Beijing suffered a frustrating 108-97 loss on the road. But the squad quickly bounced back on New Year's Day, outclassing three-time defending champions Liaoning 105-90 at home to boost their morale. And on Friday night, the Ducks welcomed Zhejiang, the team that edged them out twice last season. The question loomed – could they maintain their momentum and secure a second consecutive win?

Beijing coach Xu Liming was uncertain. Although newly-signed center Zhou Qi has returned from his second injury stretch of the season, point guard Chen Ying-chun, who had been performing exceptionally well, was sidelined after sustaining an ankle sprain against Liaoning. The Ducks had to brace themselves for a tough battle.

The game tipped off with both teams playing tightly-matched basketball, as players on both sides enjoyed high shooting percentages. Eugene German was particularly impressive, relentlessly attacking the basket and scoring 14 points in the first quarter alone. By the end of the opening period, Beijing held a 32-24 lead.

Leveraging their inside advantage, the Ducks found success in the paint, while their perimeter shooting was also on point. Whenever the Golden Bulls attempted to get back into the contest, the hosts were quick to stifle their efforts.

Beijing led 65-50 at halftime, but started the third quarter a bit sluggishly. Xu's frequent substitutions kept the pressure on Zhejiang, however, while maintaining his team's offensive efficiency. By the end of the period, the Ducks held a 91-74 advantage.

In the final quarter, Zhang Cairen and Sun Yahui hit consecutive three-pointers, further extending Beijing's lead. As the game entered "garbage time," a number of bench players and young prospects seized the rare opportunity to play. Ultimately, the Ducks sealed a resounding 118-96 victory over the Golden Bulls, setting a season-high for points in a single game, while wrapping up the punishing week with a commendable 2-1 record.
