China's Quan Hongchan and Cao Yuan were named 2024 Female and Male Diving Athletes of the Year by World Aquatics on Friday, which recognized their outstanding performances over the past 12 months.
The 17-year-old Quan won both individual and synchronized women's 10-meter platform crowns at the World Championships in Doha. She then defended her title in the 10-meter platform at the Paris Olympics, surpassing long-time partner Chen Yuxi, who finished second after the pair had teamed up earlier to claim the synchronized title.
Chen Yuxi also made the list of best female athletes, along with fellow Chinese divers Chen Yiwen and Chang Yani, who won the synchronized 3-meter springboard at Paris 2024.
