Since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Namibia in 1990, the two countries have deepened cooperation in various fields, including trade and people-to-people exchanges. In 2023, bilateral trade reached $1.31 billion, an increase of 16.5 percent year on year.
From January 5 to 11, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will visit the four African countries of Namibia, the Republic of the Congo, Chad and Nigeria. Wang's visit continues the tradition of a Chinese foreign minister visiting Africa as the first overseas trip of the year for 35 consecutive years.
