Heavy snow has hit mountainous areas along the coast of the Sea of Japan. As of 5 p.m. local time on Saturday, 122 centimeters of snow had accumulated in Aomori city. By Sunday morning, snowfall could reach 40 centimeters in Hokkaido and 30 centimeters in the Tohoku region.
