The China-Europe freight rail service completed 19,000 train trips in 2024, up 10 percent year on year. The trains transported over 2 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) of cargo, up 9 percent year on year. Launched in 2011 as a flagship program under the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative, the service now reaches 227 cities across 25 European countries and connects over 100 cities in 11 Asian countries.
