Laba Festival marks the beginning of Chinese New Year celebrations

Today is the eighth day of the 12th lunar month, known as "la yue." Across China, people are celebrating Laba Festival. It is customary to commemorate the year's harvest by enjoying Laba congee, a dish made with whole grains, dried fruits and nuts.
