Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter passed away at the age of 100 at his home in Plains, Georgia, on December 29, 2024. Throughout his efforts to strengthen China-U.S. relations, Carter also facilitated student exchanges. According to Liu Yawei, senior advisor on China at the Carter Center, the former president cared deeply about the educational exchanges between the two countries. During an interview with CGTN reporter Tian Wei, Liu recounted stories about Carter's endeavors on China-U.S. educational exchanges, including one unforgettable phone call.
