On January 7, a magnitude-6.8 earthquake hit Dingri County, Xigaze City, in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region, causing building collapses and casualties.
The Western Theater Command swiftly set up a disaster relief system and sent a forward command post. At 2:05 p.m., personnel boarded a Y-20 aircraft to coordinate the relief efforts in the area.
